Episode 57: Awareness From the Inside Out: Lung Vitality and Heart Opening

Episode 57:

This class begins with some breathing explorations to help warm up your sensing abilities of the lungs, their capacity to fill, and their capacity to change shape in order to support your asanas. Our breath is constantly adapting to the environment we put ourselves in. In this class, feel how your breath can adapt to the shapes of the asanas. We do a lot of shoulder opening and awareness of the internal spaces to support backbends, culminating in camel pose.

You will need a blanket, a block, and a yoga strap. If you have a bolster, that could also be useful. A towel or any firm blanket can be used in place of a yoga blanket and a scarf will be better than nothing if you don’t have a loop-able yoga strap.

Sarah has been creating podcast classes since 2007. Each podcast is an originally crafted yoga class taught by Sarah Baumert. There are currently over 50 episodes that range in length, level and style. Sarah's teaching is alignment based, unhurried, and rich with somatic inquiries. The cueing is effective, easy to follow, and uses visualizations of postures to allow for unexpected growth and depth. You will find live unplugged versions of her classes from yoga studios, as well as classes that are specifically produced for the podcast medium.

These practices are well-thought out; they promote subtle movement and increased awareness. They have relieved pain, reduced tension, and built strength in my body. I have also learned how to better prepare for specific asanas, and I am inspired by the creative sequencing. Thank you! Thank you!
