Unwinding Body Patterns of Anxiety:

This series will explore how we can interrupt our habitual patterns of stress. We will investigate how we hold tension in our system, observing it and then disturbing it, and looking for sensations of comfort and pleasure.

Humans adjust and habituate to anxiety in many ways, some of which can be unhealthy and have lasting effects if we do not address them. These might include inhibiting movement in the diaphragm, inhibiting digestive functions, limited mobility in the joints, and a limited ability to respond to changes in the environment. Commonly this might show up as tension in the neck, shoulders, jaw, tongue, abdomen, or hands.

Unraveling Body Anxiety with Sarah Baumert. A Online Feldenkrais Series addressing breath, patterns of stress, tension in the face, eyes, neck, hands, hips, and shoulders. Learn about your habitual postural patterns.

Sleeping Mud Maid - UK artist Sue Hill

This series will include eight lessons, addressing breathing patterns of stress, tension in the face, eyes, neck, hands, hips and shoulders. The series will address some of the habitual postural patterns that occur when sitting at a computer for hours. These lessons will be helpful for anyone interested in settling the system in a novel way. Lessons are streamable and downloadable.

In Awareness Through Movement®, we explore how we can move with the smallest amount of effort. The smallest amount of effort or exertion will facilitate the maximum amount of sensory differentiation and thus make information available for new learning. Slow movements will facilitate a parasympathetic response, the rest and digest response of the nervous system.

This novel and gentle approach to calming the body is appropriate for everyone.

What students are saying about Sarah’s teaching and the Feldenkrais® method:

I am so grateful for these Feldenkrais® lessons. As a beginner to the method, I am experiencing shifts in body acceptance, awareness and feeling IN my body. You create a safe space that feels very nonjudgmental. Past me would have never imagined feelIng comfortable moving in a group setting. Thank you Sarah!
— Kathy
I particularly liked how, without a hint of judgment, you offered a variety of possible ways we might be experiencing various movements. That really reinforced that there was no “right answer” and, therefore, led to my being more aware and honest about how I was feeling.
— Toni
Thank you... I can’t tell you how much this has helped me. It takes me a while to get moving in the morning and and I slow down by late afternoon. It is a challenge for me to move or relax in most planes. So, to be able to do what I can do now is truly amazing, grateful for the changes so far and hopeful for more learning. BTW..the breath work connected to torso has also been a great boon for me. Thank you so much!
— Linda

We all have a brain that is plastic and capable of improvement and change. This is a non-judgemental, non-corrective, and liberating way to experience your body in motion.

Do it slowly, not for the sake of doing it slowly, but rather it’s the slowness that offers you the opportunity, that gives you the time to feel where you could do less.
— David Zemach-Bersin
