Online Feldenkrais Series: Organizing the Head and Neck
An Online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement Course with Sarah Baumert
September 20th - November 11th, 2026
Wednesday @ 6:30CST & Sundays @ 4pm CST
Chronic neck and shoulder pain often comes from trying too hard to "hold" ourselves up. True relief doesn't come from forcing good posture—it comes from changing how your head and neck are supported from below, by your spine, pelvis, and even your feet.
In this gentle Feldenkrais series we will explore how to let the crown of your head feel effortlessly "suspended" from above while building natural, solid support from below. Instead of fighting your body, you’ll learn small, comfortable movements that melt away chronic tightness, leaving you feeling lighter, fully supported, and comfortable in your daily life.
What We Will Explore:
Spinal Support: Learn how to use the subtle space at the top of your spine (the atlas) as a guide for upright support, transforming how you sit, move, and rest without collapsing into your hands or straining your lower back.
Dual Directions of Support: Uncover how connecting your head to your pelvis allows your spine to bear your weight naturally, so your neck and shoulder muscles can finally stop overworking.
Uncoupling Eye & Neck Movement: Explore how freeing your eyes can release deep-seated muscular tension in the back of your neck.
Restoring Spatial Orientation: Reorient yourself to the space around you—both inside and out—so posture becomes a dynamic, effortless response rather than a rigid holding pattern.
If you’ve ever tried to "fix" your posture by pulling your shoulders back or forcing yourself upright, you know how exhausting that constant effort can be.
Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais captured this struggle perfectly:
“Bad posture is the external manifestation of an internal conflict. There is something about the way one establishes the relationships of support between the ground and the head that is not so clear, that is a little off. And this manifests in a certain shape, and a certain way of balancing.”No previous experience with the Feldenkrais Method is needed to participate. Practitioners and those with experience are welcome too!”

If You’ve Never Joined a Series Before…
Stepping into a group practice for the first time can feel a little unfamiliar, but you’re in good hands. Beyond the movement lessons themselves, you are joining a warm, welcoming group of people who are exploring and learning right alongside you.
We’re all here to tune in, move better, and see real results. Here is how we build a space where you—and everyone around you—can thrive:
Be Supportive: Lift each other up. Offer encouragement rather than unsolicited advice or judgment.
Share Generously: Your personal insights, breakthroughs, and challenges matter. Sharing your experience might be the exact spark another student needs to unlock their own progress.

What people are saying about Sarah's teaching:
“At the end, when we went to stand up, my shoulders felt wider and like I was standing broader. I felt more stable and steady as I stood there
I haven’t done a lesson in a while and I felt like my body just immediately sunk into a relaxed state. I was able to stand up in a way that I have not been able to feel in a long time.”
”I especially like what you said at the beginning, to allow us to let go of expectations and to drop into a beginner’s mind. I’ve done enough Feldenkrais now that I know I am going to be prompted to try to feel certain things. But these ideas of being curious and letting things happen, and letting go of some control… Wow, I am always surprised at how much I need this every time. I appreciate these classes so much.”
”These classes deepen my body-awareness like nothing else”
